Borrowed from the boys: monk strap shoes

Androgyny was, for a long time, a look that I just couldn't get on board with. I have curves and just felt silly wearing boyish clothes, plus they aren't cut to flatter me in the same way that a 50s-style fit-and-flare dress is. But footwear is one area I can definitely make an exception. I love a pair of power flats and have been breaking out my glitter brogues from Mellow Yellow lately – and getting lots of compliments too. But the success of brogues has paved the way for a newcomer – the monk strap shoe.

GQ call monk strap shoes the dressiest footwear option for guys, but the way to wear them right now is with anything you like. Dressed down is definitely OK. A great pair of jeans or checked trousers are just as fashionable a partner as a sharply tailored suit, perhaps even more so. They can come with one strap or two, but I prefer going all out with the double buckle option. And anything the guys can do, we can do better...
