Tartan isn't my usual print of choice, I guess it still reminds me of a waistcoat and skirt set my mum made me wear when I was younger. My sister had a matching one, it was all a bit wrong. Yet when I saw these ankle boots from Mellow Yellow I was just drawn to them. I love the fabric with that bright yellow accent, the patent brogue detailing and the statement tassels. I asked myself whether I'd find enough outfits to wear them with, but I've pretty much ended up wearing them with anything... and getting compliments when I do, which is always nice.

So is Tartan in? For me, it's far less about that and more about putting on a pair of shoes that you love and make you feel good. Tartan did appear on the catwalks recently though and some are suggesting a proper comeback for autumn/winter with the likes of Moschino sending some statement checks down the runway. Of course, Vivienne Westwood is another designer who always keeps tartan on the radar. With geometric checks being such a key print for summer I could definitely see me buying into a bit more tartan towards winter.

But back to the boots, I'd definitely suggest taking a look at the Mellow Yellow range. Sarenza are currently stocking over 450 different styles so there's bound to be something to suit us all.
