I was inspired by a beauty feature I read in In Style Magazine this month. It was called The Beauty Audit and the magazine asked its team: ‘how many products did you use today and how much did they cost?'
The results from editors, writers and directors was a bit of a mix with the lowest at 10 products worth £80, and the highest reaching 24 products at £700. Reading this, it was difficult to work out where I fit on the scale without actually trying it out, so I pulled out the beauty products I would use in an average day (excluding bath/shower ones) and here is how things totted up...
Simple Cleansing Facial Wipes, £3.25
It's a bit lazy but as soap is so drying on my skin I save time with these.
Ponds Cold Cream Cleanser, £4.49
A review sample that I've kept using as it really does the trick.
Clinique All About Eyes Serum, £20
I love the cooling metal roller ball for soothing puffy eyes and helping their appearance.
Dermalogica Clear Start welcome matte moisturiser, £15.35
It's designed for younger skin but is really light and non-greasy which I find essential in a day moisturiser.
Amazing Cosmetics Face Primer, £22
This has a great formulation and smooths on easily giving skin a velvety finish, ready for make-up.
Pericone MD No Concealer Concealer, £37
I love, love, love this product. The best concealer I've tried by far.
Estee Lauder Double Wear Light foundation, £27.50
I love the light finish but even coverage this gives.
The Body Shop bronzing powder, £13 and bronzing brush, £16
Good, subtle colour and goes on evenly. The brush is super-soft and worth the money.
Benefit Bella Bamba Blusher, £23.50
For some extra rosiness you can't go wrong with Benefit.
Urban Decay Naked 2 eyeshadow palette, £36
I use this palette for my eyes and brows. I just wish there was another lighter colour in there.
Max Factor False Lash Mascara, £11.99
A great mascara that gets lots of good reviews.
Rituals Eve's Kiss Silkening Lip Treatment, £5.50
Love this product and it makes my lips feel amazing.
No 7 Moisture Drench Lipstick, £9.50
I'm a big fan of No. 7 lipsticks in reds and corals.
212 Sexy Perfume, £47.50
A sexy scent is my style signature and this is my current favourite.
Sanctuary Hand Cream, £3
I keep this in my bag or drawer at work so it's always at hand (pardon the pun).
Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream, £79
I'm almost out of this cream but it really is a dream lotion which I use at night before bed.
17 products used
Grand total: £374.58 (RRP)
It's interesting to see the value of your make-up bag isn't it? I once lost mine on a night out and it was horrible spending all that money to replace things. Luckily, I'm a bargain-hunter so I haven't spent the full grand total as I love a deal.
I'd love to see what yours works out as too? Let me know the value of your beauty regime in a comment below.

Mac studio moisturiser £23.50
Mac strobe cream £22.50
Estée Lauder double wear concealer £20
Estée Lauder double wear foundation £27.50
Urban decay naked palette £36

Mac mineralize skin finish £21
Topshop lipstick £8
Topshop nail varnish £6
Chanel chance eai fraiche £45
Total: £256.99
Great post, didn't see the article but it does get you thinking x
We seem to have a couple of the same staples. Just goes to show that men have it easy when it comes to grooming products. I read today that men now spend more than women on grooming and I don't think that's true.
I don't think that's true either, not the men I know anyway! Even if they use expensive skincare, it's all the little things we use that add up x
