Monday night's usually aren't much to write home about, but this week was slightly different. You can't have easily escaped the media frenzy that's been going on around Rihanna's 777Tour. To launch her new album Unapologetic, the singer embarked on a trip to 7 cities, in 7 nights on a 777 jet. Of course, in each city there was a special gig and I was lucky to be invited as a guest of HTC to see Rihanna perform at the Kentish Town Forum in London.
We'd heard that Rihanna was being less than punctual for these shows and she did keep us waiting, but she made up for it by playing all the favourites and getting the crowd involved. It definitely wasn't a 100% effort performance in terms of vocals, but my sister and I loved it anyway. I previously saw Rihanna at the 02 and then again at Radio 1's Hackney Weekend in the summer, and this gig was so much smaller. It was good to see a new side of her, one with less of the staging, props and costumes.
Rihanna gave away a limited edition, custom OneX+, the latest version of the acclaimed HTC One, to a fan in every city on the 777Tour.I got a picture of that moment and so many more thanks to my not so discreet zoom lens. I'm not one for fighting it out at the front... I found my short-little-self a step and watched on from afar. Check our a few more pics from the night below...
November also sees Rihanna cover Vogue for the second time. Watch the behind-the-scenes video and interview below. She was shot by the legendary Annie Leibovitz and some of the images really are stunning. Rihanna really suits the shorter hair, those extensions just made her look tacky, and this shorter crop gives her an fresher look. What do you think?
