HAIR - ghd Styling Ideas

Wavy hair using GHD styling tool

I was given the opportunity to try out the ghd Pink Cherry Blossom Styler and challenged to share with my readers what the straighteners can do. I've always been a fan of ghd (I currently own the wide-plate styler), mainly because I've got thick hair that only seems to be tamed by ghds, not other brands.

During London Fashion Week I started testing the styler and I was looking to add a bit of volume and texture to my hair without curling it entirely. I used ghd heat protection spray before drying my hair and then smoothed some Fekkai Advanced Brilliant Glossing Cream through the ends. I took different sized sections of hair and wrapped each of them round the straighteners which creates a gentle wave. I used my fingers to ensure the waves were separated and natural-looking. To finish, I sprayed with hair spray to hold everything in place, with a good spritz underneath too to keep the volume. Here is my hair a few hours later, at Somerset House.

The limited edition Gold Classic styler that I tried has shimmering pink plates and comes with a matching heat-resistant storage bag, which is really handy if you need to pack them not long after using them. For every Pink Cherry Blossom styler sold in the UK, £10 is donated to Breakthrough Breast Cancer too, perfect for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

To give ghd fans more inspiration, their website now includes great hair style galleries featuring celebrities, catwalk looks and more. There is a mix of more extreme styles and easy-to-recreate, daytime looks so if you are stuck for something to do with your hair then take a look. You can comment via Facebook and share with friends too.

When it comes to styling my hair, I've set up a little corner of the room. I have a bargain little TV unit from IKEA, which actually works really well to store all my hair bits and bibs. It's low, so I have a full length mirror standing on top of it. My earrings and some faux flowers add a bit of colour and then in the shelf below I have a basket that holds all of my hair products. When not in use, my hairdryer and styling tools sit underneath there too meaning they don't clutter up the room.

How do you use you hair straighteners and is there a celebrity or catwalk look you've spied on the ghd website that you are going to recreate? What is your 'styling' area like? Let me know by leaving a comment.
