New York Fashion Week has begun and I'm keeping a close eye on the catwalks for all the hot looks we can expect come spring/summer 2013. Beauty, and in particular nails, have become one of the easiest ways to borrow from the catwalk. You don't have to wait for the high street to follow suit, so often you can create fresh new beauty looks from what you've already got at home. With that in mind, here are a few of the nail looks that butter LONDON have been working on during NYFW. I can't wait for London Fashion Week which starts next week.
Erin Fetherston (above left): To complement the collection of flirty, feminine silhouettes with zippers, studs and texture, the models wore metallic nails and no hand/wrist jewellery. The colour is Lillibet's Jubilee, a silver with a lilac finish, and the nail shape was naturally rounded.
Kaelen (above right): A modern '80s vibe ran through this collection with sharp lines, rock prints and pops of sunny neon yellow. For the nails, it was a high contrast 'Distressed Nail' using Union Jack Black with a matte topcoat as the base, a bespoke nude khaki was then layered in jagged strokes towards the bed.
Veda (below): The collection featured leather, psychedelic prints and tie-dye, and it was the latter than inspired the nails. A bespoke Cosmic Nail was created, including a mix of mauve and olive with celestial effects. Knackered was used as a top coat for a holographic effect and a glossy black stripe finished it off. Get the look with butter LONDON shades Toff, Sloane Ranger, Knackered (loving this colour) and Union Jack Black.
