INTERVIEW - Donna Tzelepis of Fortune Brixton

Donna Tzelepis of Fortune Brixton

For my latest little Q&A, The Style PA talks to Donna Tzelepis from a new pop-up boutique, selling vintage treasures, called Fortune Brixton. And yes, you'll find it in Brixton.

Tell us a bit about yourself?
Basically we have converted an old toilet in a bar and have a pop up shop selling vintage clothes and independent jewellers' designs

Why did you start blogging/open your shop?
My partner Eva has been selling vintage clothes for 15 years and I left my corporate job in the summer as I felt I needed to do something more creative or take a break before deciding my next move. I had started to help friends out styling, and Eva and I got talking through her other shop and really clicked. She started lending me her clothes for shoots and we started doing more bits together. I was helping her do the photos for her ASOS page. I realised that with Eva's sound experience and having come from a business development background that we would start looking for a space to test our partnership and ideas together.  We found this stock cupboard in SevenatBrixton bar and asked them if we could convert it and create a pop up shop. The idea is that is hidden away and tiny but full of beautiful things.

What inspires you?
Fashion, colour, photography, music... currently I'm very inspired by Tim Walker, italia vogue shoots and Yayoi Kusama .

If you had to wear just one fashion designer's clothes for life, who would it be?
If I could only wear only designers clothes for life it would be Vivienne Westwood but I wouldn't ever want to be restricted to one of anything  - I love Dolce & Gabanna's most recent line shown at Milan - baroque me up!

What are your top 3 high street stores and why?
Episode in Camden high street – always have amazing vintage pieces and always at really reasonable prices.
River island – because of all the amazing floral/tropical prints they have going on at the moment. Urban Outfitters – because they always have something that I love in there.

What has been your biggest ever bargain?
I've had so many because I've always loved vintage. I have an old original Biba dress that I got for £2 and a more recently a beautiful bat-winged jacket that's draped and long at the back and has a DJ detail at the front that I got from a car boot sale.

And what has been your biggest ever splurge?
Biggest ever splurge was a Moschino Cheap n Chic tea dress green with cream polka dots that was about £700 from Harrodsburg but it was with vouchers. I had one from work, I also bought a pair of Pucci hot pants for £200.

What is your beauty routine?
I cleanse with Emma Hardie cleanser and muslin cloth and then wear BioEffect.

What do you collect?
Buttons, vintage clothes and accessories

Which celebrity would you love to dress and why?
I would love to dress Katy Perry her dress sense is awful :( but she is so beautiful especially looking at her most recent pics on the cover of Interview and I imagine she would be up for anything style wise.

Which celebrity do you think has the best style?
The celebrity with the best style for me is Alison Goldfrapp.

What is your favourite trend of the moment?
Dip dye hair and fluoro prints.

How do you turn around a bad hair day?
Pile it up and pin it round a doughnut.

What would you wear on a first date?
Something vintage.
