Vauxhall Fashion Scout may be off-schedule, but there's definitely no shortage of talent. The Ones to Watch show gives us a glimpse at the big names of the future and this season four collections took to the runway as part of this event. I'm going to focus on my favourite two.
Anne Sofie Madsen's pieces were a real treat. She used a mixture of different fabrics and and embellished sheer figure-hugging designs to create a really interesting collection. I particularly liked the fringed and tasselled garments and the tiered and layered skirts. Anne Sofie actually worked under John Galliano at Dior, and later at Alexander McQueen so she's had some serious preparation and training for her own label which launched for SS12. Not all of it was wearable, but as a concept it was pretty well done.
Love this detail!
Now if there was one collection that was to raise a smile and a smirk upon the unwitting fashion crowd it was this one. I've chosen to highlight this one, not because it is something I would wear (I am just not that brave), but because it was pure fun. The catwalk music even had everyone wanting to sing along (a dance remix of Florence and the Machine's Shake it Up if you were wondering). I got to look at the collection up close at the exhibition in Freemasons Hall and it literally is a riot of colour, print and embellishment. Maybe once the collection develops and matures it will keep that striking signature but have a little bit more of a commercial edge too.
These are possible the loudest earmuffs I ever did see...
