LFW - Paul Costelloe Kicks Off London Fashion Week

In the usual 9am opening slot of Fashion Week the fashion pack piled in bleary eyed and ready for a long day for Paul Costelloe. I can't believe there were cocktail dresses and towering stillettos on the front row - those people must have been up at the crack of dawn to get ready! But anyway, the collection...

Last season I thought the Paul Costelloe collection was really striking and I really liked the rich choice of colour. For Spring/Summer, the collection feels like a gentle evolution from the AW11 theme with many of the same shapes and style signatures coming through.

I was torn in two with the collection though... the neutrals were lovely with cute skirt suits and pretty coats. Inspiration for shapes in the collection have been taken from 1970s Parisian silhouettes and hemlines were short, short, short! The gentle draping effect on the backs of some of the swing jackets was lovely and the belted styles and fitted shirt dresses were fab too, showing off the waist.

There were also pieces which had a more period feel and it was these that I wasn't really loving. I was feeling the more modern touches rather than the older fashioned details such as high ruffled necklines and puffed shoulders. Essentially though, Paul Costelloe is a brand that is available on the high street and much of the collection was totally wearable with pretty tailoring featuring heavily.

What do you think? Did you love it or did it leave you uninspired? Watch the highlights in the video above and let me know your verdict...
