"Reviewing an epilator is quite a daunting task. At the end of the day, no matter what the adverts try to insist, you know it's going to hurt. Of course it's going to hurt! An electric machine is ripping out your hair, one by one, at an immense speed!
With the thought of pain and potentially sore legs in mind, I did put off trying out the Braun Silk.epil7 Dual Epilator for a week or so, but in the end my curiosity got the better of me. So tonight, I did it.
The Braun Silk.epil7 Dual Epilator promises “a new skin feeling in 1 stroke” with its new Gillette Venus Technology - this means that along with the classic epilator, there are also two razor blades. I must confess, this element of the device confused me – surely the whole point of using an epilator is so you don't have to shave? However, the epilator came with a number of different attachments, so I just went with the traditional hair-ripping style. No shaving required.
Overall, I would say that the Braun Silk.epil 7 is a good epilator. It's easy to use and, with its 40 tweezers, removed the hair with no problems, even the shorter ones. I found the small light on the base very handy when doing the back of my legs, and although I didn't test it in the water I do like that it is waterproof. The only negative I could find was with charging the device – it comes with one of those two-prong plugs that only fit in certain sockets. Fortunately I was able to charge the epilator at my parent's house, but otherwise I wouldn't have been able to use it.
So, if you're in the market for an epilator that is waterproof with razor attachments, then this is definitely the product for you. And if you've never tried an epilator before, why not be brave and give it a go?"
