LFW - Jasper Garvida AW11 Collection
After a pretty hectic day in the office on Friday I hot-footed it to the Jasper Garvida show. Backstage Jasper is the picture of calm. The early starts and late evenings spent working to get the collection ready for the show don't seem to take their toll on him at all. In fact, despite running late the backstage area seemed pretty quiet. I have to say that Jasper is possibly one of the nicest men in fashion and truly deserves his success. This show was far busier than last season, I think people saw what they were missing and made sure to be there.
Scanning through the rails of clothes backstage it was clear that Jasper had pulled something quite special out of the bag. The work that had gone into each garment was easy to see with carefully sewn on oversized embellishments; each one positioned just right so they would sit perfectly on the model. They adorned evening gowns, handbags and even neck ruffles. I loved the colour palette of red, grey and cream. It seems red is fast becoming THE accent colour of London Fashion Week with John Rocha and Betty Jackson both using it to great effect.
Emily from Fashion Foie Gras was sat front row and proclaimed on Twitter that it was her highlight of the week so far and likened it to a Paris Couture show. Praise indeed! Along with the high fashion styles fit for an eccentric pop star, there were some fabulous tailored dresses that would be incredibly easy to wear. The collection seemed to tick both boxes, there was something for everyone.
The beauty look was all dark, smoky eyes and twisted sleek up-dos. I want to wear my hair like that! Backstage the models wore hairnets to keep everything in place while a team of make-up artists created their femme fatale beauty look. Stunning, wouldn't you agree?
