LFW - Betty Jackson's AW11 Collection

Betty Jackson AW11 at LFW

I've been lucky enough to meet and interview Betty Jackson before through work (Debenhams) and I just loved her whole attitude to fashion. She's not driven by celebrity and doesn't value her work by how many A-listers want to borrow a frock. She dresses simply herself, having a signature black wardrobe and she understands the needs of different women from the Debenhams customer looking for an inexpensive accessory to update her outfit, to the women for whom money isn't a key concern. I've not been to one of her London Fashion Week shows before so was excited to see it for the first time this morning. Not quite as bright and early as her show has been in past seasons either which I was thankful for.

The soft palette was brought alive with a bright red accent and just like in New York, the tonal colour blocking came back out. Top-to-toe in one hue seems to be a key look for Autumn/Winter or at least that's how we are being presented with many of the designer's looks. I love that Betty chose bright red too, I always associate her with red lipstick. In fact, one of Betty's top tips is to 'wear red lipstick whenever you can… It fools people into thinking you look glamorous even if you're feeling a bit fragile.'

There were oversized silhouettes with '80s style blazer jackets and tailoring, beautiful fluffy cream coats and some delicate sheer florals. The collection looked great on the catwalk and as much as the colour stood out, it was actually the neutrals that I liked best. I managed to get some OK pics at this show too, take a look...
