TREND - Pleats a Plenty

Next season pleats are going to be big news and they are already filtering on to the high street now after proving a hit at Fashion Weeks during September. I loved the pleats at the House of Holland show in particular. It all started with the Sex and the City movie and those Halston Heritage pleats that SJP wore. There is a copy of sorts in just about every major high street store.

Here are a couple of outfits I've styled from what's in my wardrobe right now...

Pleats styled

1. Clashing colours
This dress is from Monsoon a couple of years ago. The pleated bodice area hides a multitude of sins and I wanted to team the bold green with a colour in a similar tone, but a completely different palette. The ruffle detail bag is from Debenhams as is the EB by Erickson Beamon necklace. The shoes with cork heels are from Barratts.

2. Simple in silver
This layered silver, pleated dress is by Love and I've teamed it with a simple black blazer that I picked up in Asda years ago. The shoes are Clarks (and super comfy) and the clutch bag is another Debenhams steal. I have no idea where I got the bracelet from now.

At the recent Very press day pleats featured heavily too. There was a row with a pleated skirt, pleated dress and pleated floaty trousers. I'm not sure my height (or lack of) would allow me to get away with those, but someone with a willowy frame is going to look amazing in them. Here are a couple of pics...
