THOUGHT - Breast Cancer Awareness Month: Get Involved

This week I said goodbye to a very special lady, my great aunt Joyce. She was told she had breast cancer back in 2003 and fought hard to beat it, getting the all-clear in 2009. Unfortunately, in the past year she was diagnosed with lung cancer and this time it was too much for her body to recover from and after being ill for some time, she passed away. Back when I did my 27 mile walk for Breakthrough Breast Cancer it was her who I had in my mind as my inspiration and she continues to be a role model for me.

She was such a fun person, the life and soul of any party with laughter that just made you want to laugh too. I don't think it's fair that women have to suffer the pain and trauma of breast cancer which is why I'll always support the vital work that breast cancer charities do.

As this month is Breast Cancer Awareness Month I thought I'd pick out some of the products that you can buy to do your bit and get involved in helping the fight against breast cancer. I took part in a 'Step on it' staff walk in Regent's Park with my fellow Debenhams head office employees and our total funds raised for that activity alone is up to more than £12,000, If you're feeling generous you can still donate to that fund as well.
my-wardrobe.com have collaborated with chic Italian footwear designer Katia Lombardo to create a limited edition shoe with 20% of every sale going to the charity. The shoe is a re-work of one of Lombardo’s classic designs; a peep-toe patent platform heel, accessorised with a unique pale pink sole created exclusively for the campaign.

You can pick up a George at ASDA Barbara Hulanicki Fit and Flare T-Shirt for £10. 10% of the retail price is donated to Breast Cancer Care and Breast Cancer Awareness.

Warehouse's offer is this sketched bird print T-shirt. In the Breakthrough Breast Cancer's signature pale pink and with an asymmetric hem detail, it's perfect for looking effortlessly cool while highlighting the charity and cause. Get it for £25 and they'll donate a minimum of 10% to Breakthrough Breast Cancer during October.

I was in Debenhams a couple of weeks ago trying on new bras from a whole host of brands. It turned out that this Ultimo 'ICON' bra was my favourite for a fabulous, everyday shape. The pink version also includes a contribution to charity, Breast Cancer Campaign.  There's a whole host of other products available on debenhams.com too including T-shirts by Designers at Debenhams and the Jasper Conran designer pink ribbon pin badge.

100% of the profits from this pink cross body bag go directly to Cancer Research and it's a fabulous budget option at just £5.99.

For all you domestic goddesses, The Pampered Chef has a range of products to help 'whip Breas Cancer'. I just fell in love with these polka dot tea cups (and I know my sister Abbie will adore them). Get them for a reasonable £9.

Look pretty in pink with this gorgeous shade from OPI called Pink of Heart. It's a limited edition polish created to support the National Breast Cancer Foundation fund. £2 from the sale of each one will go to the charity.
