LFW - Lako Bukia's Debut Vauxhall Fashion Scout Show
This season was the first official catwalk show for Lako Bukia, a Georgian designer who showed her first collection back in 2008. You could see the architectural references particularly in the spring/summer pieces that had cage like detailing, and the drop-waist dresses had a very square appearance - not the most flattering shape but it was striking on the catwalk. Materials included organza, silk satin, chiffon Georgette and cotton which made it quite feminine in contrast to the heavier silhouettes.
I thought the colour palette of subtle pink, slate grey, soft blue and a natural base was very pretty. The transparent jackets with angular exaggerated shoulders were another key piece, it's a shape that's been done before but the sheer fabric gave it an edge of something new. If I had to choose a piece myself, I would go for one of the softer draped chiffon pieces. In fact, I have to admit that the AW10 collection appealed more to my personal tastes.
The accessories were a collaboration with Georgian artist Aleksande Mikadze and are made using glass and a variety of stones. Styling was by Rebekah Roy and the make-up although subtle, was gorgeous. Bold brows, heavy cheek and brow highlighting and blush eye and cheek colours - I'll be copying this look.
Oh, and I'm keen to know what you guys think of the hairstyles?
