FASHION - Bernard Chandran AW10
I've seen a few shows but none had quite the approving applause of the Bernard Chandran show. It truly was breathtaking and I found my eyes almost popping out of my head to ogle the gorgeous fabrics and intricate details.
So why was this show so beautiful? It was the cut and craftsmanship that set it apart from other shows I'd seen. Even from some distance the clothes look flawlessly finished with everything sitting absolutely perfectly on the model wearing it - just how it should be, I might add. I loved the backless glittering, gold dresses which showed some skin but in a sexy yet understated way. I also love, love, loved the huge chain handled sparkling bag. The experimentation with proportions was really interesting. Bernard studied fine art in Paris and you can almost tell that he has been trained in France by his exacting standards.
I wasn't at the S/S show, but I can see from the photographs that this season's collection has far more desirable items, at least for my own taste. I'm wondering if Beverly Knight was writing a mental shopping list from the front row? The intricacies and level of workmanship that must have gone into the garments and accessories was clear. Feathers in an enchanting colour palette forming angular plumes down the lines of the arms made for strong silhouettes, and fabulous photos. And what about that make-up hey? Certainly looked fierce with models sporting glossy green or blue lips. I quite liked the hair too, I want to try my own version of that updo.
Celebs spotted in Chandran include Lady Gaga and Little Boots among others. I'm saving my pennies for an investment piece and I'm hopefully going to revisit this post with a few more pics of my favourite pieces soon.
