TIPS - Alesha Dixon's Stay Slim Secrets
She's been in a girl band, wowed us with her dancing skills and then bagged herself the role of judge on Strictly Come Dancing. Being in the public eye would put pressure on anyone to stay looking their best, so how does Alesha do it? Well she's teamed up with LA Fitness to help them drive the business forward so she seems to be a bit of a gym bunny - here she shares her top tips.
Get into the groove – Music can make your work out a lot more fun so make yourself playlist of your favorite upbeat songs for workouts, these will help you to stay motivated and will help you to enjoy your workout. (I agree whole heartedly with this one, I can't workout without music!)
Two’s company. Working out with a friend, an LA coach or trainer will help to keep you motivated. You might learn some new moves from each other and if you have to meet someone for a planned session, you're more likely to show up.
Take it easy. Some days you may not be up to a vigorous cardio workout, so try a gentler exercise like yoga or Pilates. These classes are great for toning the body and can help to ease stress.
Just do it. Don’t just think about going to the gym, go! Have your bag ready the night before so that you can just grab it and go.
Lunchtime lunges. It can be tricky to fit exercise into a busy life, but a quick 10 minute workout at lunchtime can leave you feeling energised for the rest of the afternoon and means you have your evenings free to have fun. Check out the new LA fitness 10 minute crew classes – short, sharp burst of energy in the Club to keep you going!
Get a goal. LA fitness helps you set a personal target whether you want to be Trim. Tone, Fit or Train. So whether it’s getting on the scales, or trying on your skinny jeans, make sure that you regularly check your progress against your ultimate goal. Your success will motivate good actions, and if you added a few pounds you will be extra careful that day.
Even if you aren't the biggest gym fan, Alesha's tips still apply. Now I just need to put them into practice. I've been a bit slack this past year. Wish me luck!
