FASHION - Harriet's Muse SS10 at LFW
On Sunday evening I trekked up to Vauxhall Fashion Scout (in heels, I might add) to check out the Harriet's Muse spring/summer collection. I perused with a complimentary glass of Pimms and a couple of canapes and took some pics of the monochrome pieces shown on mannequins in the fab space at the Masonic Hall.
The collection is called 'Come Fly With Me' and features a gorgeous print of a hot air balloon and compass which I just loved. The lighter fabrics have been mixed in with some key leather pieces including a black and white biker style jacket and buckle-up corset belts. There has also been an element of recycling within the collection with the designers revisiting existing patterns and using the resources already available with their workshop.
I'm not sure I would wear a Harriet's Muse corset, but I could see any of the flirty dresses working in my wardrobe right now. Wearable but with that cool designer edge and high level of detailing at the same time. The statement leather jacket has real appeal with its strong, sharp shape. The basques and corsets are what the label has become known for, but the other pieces are definitely worth a look.
After that I headed back down to The Strand to check out the Nineteen74/The Pout fashion week party being held at The Adam Street members club. Miggy of The Pout looked fab in her Aldo heels and mini skirt and I also met up with fellow fashion blogger Tor of Fab Frocks. Always nice to see a friendly face, especially as this was my first fashion week.
Loved the gallery space which was decorated with examples of the creative genius of schon magazine. And I have to say it particularly amused me when one poor lad got a couple of pages stuck to the bottom of his shoe.
