FASHION - Marcus Constable SS10 at LFW

At the ungodly hour of 10.30am this morning I was at Liberty waiting for the presentation of Marcus Constable's SS10 collection. I was lucky enough to meet up with fellow bloggers @Fashion_Dreamer and @fashionknitsta too which was really nice. I managed to bag the perfect position for taking pictures so have captured the whole collection as shown above.

So more about Marcus Constable... after graduating from Central St Martins with an MA in fashion, Marcus produced a collection that was snapped up by Liberty in 1995, he then went on to gain sponsorship from Topshop with two more season's capsule collections for the Oxford Street store. Marcus went to work on projects in France before returning to London Fashion week earlier this year.

The Spring/Summer 2010 collection features a muted and monochrome palette where black and white stripes mix with nude, grey and stone shades. There are some strong draping and ruffle elements and a definite menswear influence. All the models wore brogue style shoes which kept the collection quite casual. There is also a strong sculptural influence with interesting shapes and detailing in skirts, dresses and jackets.

Bold stripes were layered under semi-sheer fabrics which was a stand-out feature of the collection. Silk tulle, chiffon, Georgette and silk jersey were just some of the fabrics used and overall I thought the pieces were quite elegant with a power dressing twist.

My favourite item from the collection is the gorgeous skirt below...
