NEWS - Elle Macpherson Opens Lingerie Exhibition
Last Thursday the media preview of the eagerly anticipated exhibition, 'Undercover: The Evolution of Underwear', was officially opened by Elle Macpherson. The exhibition traces the evolution of underwear, from health garment, shape definer to fashion ‘must have’. It covers themes such as boudoir, everyday glamour and ‘Stars and their bras’, looking at celebrity branding.
From the risqué to the radical, pieces include an original Merry Widow corset inspired by Lana Turner in the film of the same name; renowned burlesque artiste Immodesty Blaize’s corset; a spectacular gown made from bras and briefs by designers Vin & Omi and a La Perla bra encrusted with Swarovski crystals. I am scared to visit in case I fall in love with all that beautiful underwear.
Held at the Fashion & Textiles Museum, the exhibition runs from Friday 12th June until Sunday 27th September 2009 and is open from 11.00am-6.00pm Wednesday to Sunday. Ticket prices are £6.50 for adults, £3.50 for students and concessions, with entry free for under 12s.
