NEWGEN is a sponsorship scheme set up by the British Fashion Council (BFC) to support the emerging generation of British fashion designers. Launched in 1993, it has been conceived to promote upcoming fashion designers and acts as a showcase promoting British design talent. It can also help form connections with key members of the press and buyers worldwide. The scheme is currently supported and sponsored by Topshop.
As well as financial support each season, Recipients of BFC NEWGEN show sponsorship receive a free stand at the London Fashion Week Exhibition. And help doesn't stop there, the BFC aims to give NEWGEN sponsorship for three seasons.
Former NEWGEN sponsored designers include Alexander McQueen, Clements Ribeiro, Matthew Williamson, Julien Macdonald and Sophia Kokosalaki.
