Tell us about yourself:
I'm a freelance writer and blogger. I'm editor of the interiors and lifestyle blog Domestic Sluttery - the home and lifestyle blog for women who have better things to do.
Describe your personal style:
Quirky classic. I love simple pieces, but then I'll jazz them up with a great pair of earrings or bright coloured shoes. I don't really like black shoes. They're too dull. I tend to wear retro things, and like my clothes quite fitted. I don't go in for trends that I'll get bored of after a few weeks. I also never wear flat shoes, so even if I'm just working from home, I tend to look quite dressed up. I don't feel like I'm ready for a night out if I haven't put on a dress and some sparkle!
What are your wardrobe staples?
My collection of little 60s dresses. I live in them. In fact, it's rare I'm not in a dress. I'm all about the high heels and a pretty dress. You don't need much else.
What inspires you?
Anything from vintage fashion, to theatre. Old films are good for inspiration as well. I love seeing a quirky piece of jewellery that shouldn't work with an outfit but totally does. I try and do that with my accessories. If they look different, and look like they shouldn't match, then I'll throw them together and it usually works.
Who is your fashion muse?
I don't really have one. I think Anne Hathaway looks stunning, and I can swoon over photos of old movie stars forever. Anything glam gets me excited.
What is your favourite purchase of all time?
The blue vintage dress in the photo (above). I bought it from Armstrong's in Edinburgh. Easily the best vintage shop I've been to. The zip needed repairing when I bought it and we had to sew me into it so I could wear it that evening! But it was worth every penny and has now been repaired properly. It's my go-to vintage outfit and is such an unusual shape and fabric. I also picked up an Armani jacket from Bang Bang a couple of weeks ago for £60. It's pretty lovely and I've worn it every day since. Bargain.
What has been your biggest splurge?
The tawny vintage coat in the photo (top of page). It was £160 but worth every penny. I bought at a vintage fashion event in Crystal Palace. I was a little tipsy on bubbly. Bubbly and shopping is a very sneaky plan indeed! But I adore it. It's easily the most glamourous thing I own and makes me feel like a film star each time I wear it.
What's your daily beauty routine?
I'm actually rubbish with lotions and potions. I try and remember to use them, but it doesn't really happen. But I do use shower products from The White Company every day so I know my skin is getting looked after! I work from home, so most days my skin is free from make-up. Until I leave the house in a mad dash and have to do it on the train. I'm never without blusher or a decent mascara. I also wear Rimmel's Vinyl lip gloss in Snog all the time. It works as a lip balm, stays put for ages and is the perfect colour for me. I usually wear Jean Paul Gaultier Classique perfume too.
What jewellery do you never take off?
I always wear a silver ring with a blue quartz stone that I made a couple of years ago. I have collections of vintage and Victorian pieces so I'm always wearing something unusual. I make my own jewellery now (see photo above) and I'm working on opening an Etsy shop! I'd much rather customise something and make it my own, rather than buy something from a high street shop.
