FASHION - Vintage Treats in Leeds

This post is guest written by Abbie Hayden (who blogs at All About Abbie), a lover of polka dots who just so happens to be my little sister.

'For all you Style PA followers in Yorkshire… or visitors to Yorkshire, be sure to visit Leeds for some shopping delights. If you head down near the corn exchange there are a nice selection of vintage shops where you will be sure to grab yourself a bargain, and something unique and original – makes a change in our Primark led world where everyone seems to be wearing the same thing!

If you head down County Arcade, make sure you pop into Rose and Co, it’s a beautiful little boutique; the upstairs is restored into a Victorian styled apothecary shop: selling handmade and hand-wrapped soaps, balms, candles, lotions and potions, each being packaged in traditional tins, jars and French glass bottles. They also have unusual gifts and some really lovely and quirky home goods, like this lovely polka dot picnic basket (shown below).

But… you have to go downstairs to fully appreciate this shop. They stock vintage revival dresses made by Stop Staring and Pin-up Girl. Both of these are American based companies, and Rose and Co have very kindly brought their fashions across the Atlantic to our doorstop. The dresses range from £30-£100 and they stock sizes 8-24 so there really is no reason why you shouldn’t treat yourself to a little vintage outfit. They also stock some really gorgeous lingerie by Sista-shei and So-Shei, and What Katie Did: some really fantastic faux vintage lingerie and hosiery designers. So if you are looking for a beautiful vintage girdle, bullet bra or corset, look no further!

Whether you are looking for a nice summer dress, a glamorous vintage party dress, or even outfits for your burlesque troupe, Rose and Co really have it all, with style, individuality and most important of all, affordability!'

Looks like a lovely shop - I shall have to venture up north and have a look for myself one day. There is a similar sounding (but not vintage) little boutique in Leamington - it's my favourite place!

Rose & Co are one of my favourite shops, I highly recommend them to any visitors.

They are also the sponsors of a monthly Burlesque night called The Wet Spot. I've loved every one I have attended, it's a chance to show of your new purchases!

Oooh I might have to attend The burlesque night. I have been going to Subculture's monthly burlesque night called Sailor's grave, and that has always been filled to the brim with gorgeous rockabilly, polka dot and 50's style dresses, and another excuse to get out my polka-dot glad rags is fine with me!
